An Art Exhibition by Tim Craker and Louise Saxton

Thu 10 July to Sun 27 July 2008, 11am to 7pm

The Annexe Gallery

Presented by Central Market and The Annexe Gallery

Supported by the Australian High Commission Kuala Lumpur

Australian artists Tim Craker and Louise Saxton's delightful joint exhibition of installation pieces is a must-see. Using commonplace and rare materials such as plastic cups, netting and embroidered swatches from all over Asia, the artists reflect on Malaysian life and culture through the gauzy gaze of the outsider. The effect is bright, clean, relaxed and simply joyful.

Artists' presentations on Sat 26 Jul, 2pm.

Ethos, pathos, and logos

Ethos, pathos, and logos are super useful tools, especially if you want to get better at persuasion, writing, or even just understanding how people make arguments. Here’s a simple breakdown: Ethos = Credibility It's about convincing your audience that you are trustworthy or an authority. Example: “I've been a dentist for 20 years — trust me when I say this toothpaste works.” Pathos = Emotion It's about stirring your audience's feelings — fear, joy, anger, sadness — to persuade them. Example: “Imagine the pain your child feels with every cavity because you didn't choose the right toothpaste.” Logos = Logic and Reason It's about using facts, data, or logical arguments. Example: “Clinical studies show that this toothpaste reduces cavities by 60% within six months.” Together, they’re like a full toolkit: Ethos makes people trust you. Pathos makes people feel something. Logos makes people think logically.
